Welcome

On behalf of the children, staff and Trustees, I would like to welcome you to The Coppice Nursery and Primary School. We hope you find our website informative and easy to navigate around. It is designed to give you a snapshot of our school, give you an opportunity to share in the learning of our pupils and capture their experiences whilst also making sure that you are completely informed about and involved with everyday school life.

Without doubt, The Coppice is a very special, successful and family-orientated school which places working in partnership with parents and carers at its heart. We have a fantastic and incredibly passionate staff who are all dedicated to the children in their care and, as a result, we have a great reputation within the community we serve. Our aim, whilst your child is with us, is therefore to prove why we have this great reputation.

Whilst it is my priority that the children at The Coppice receive an education that will enable them to achieve their academic potential and progress confidently into the next phase of their education, it is also part of my vision that all of our children are filled with positive experiences and are nurtured both socially and emotionally from the moment they enter our school. Through this approach, we work hard to develop within our children a confidence to embrace and deal effectively with whatever challenges may come their way in the future.

Underpinning the above is my desire that all of the children at The Coppice will develop the values that will enable them to be good citizens. Through our behaviour curriculum: The Coppice Way, we actively teach our children how to be ready to learn and also how to be responsible and respectful individuals. Because of this, our local secondary school and members of the public, who encounter our children, regularly comment on how polite and well-behaved they are. This view is a product of design rather than accident and we work extremely hard to ensure that this is the case.

The above vision is shared by all of the team here at The Coppice and the staff recognise our children as unique individuals with often very specific talents and needs. They therefore work tirelessly to provide a broad, well-sequenced and engaging curriculum in order to ensure that we are a school where ‘no child’s talent is left undiscovered’ and where learning is not easily forgotten. You’ll find our classrooms are busy with activity and full of creativity and learning, making The Coppice a special place indeed for all of our pupils. We also have an exemplary record of providing opportunities and stretching children in areas beyond just the academic.

Finally, I want to end by saying that we are a school that doesn’t rest on its laurels and is constantly looking to develop and improve. Our children deserve the very best and we will never stop striving to ensure that this is exactly what they get.

If you would like to know more about our school, visits are always welcome and encouraged. The staff and pupils very much enjoy talking about and sharing our achievements and successes and will be extremely proud to talk to you about our school.
